Art Classes in SMA

Nicole in Her Workshop at SMA Workshops

San Miguel de Allende has been drawing in artists and writers since the early 20th century. American artist and writer Sterling Dickinson arrived in 1938 and is credited with leading the charge to make San Miguel the artists' haven it is today. He established the Bellas Artes School and promoted the city as a “GIs paradise” for American soldiers who were able to study abroad on the GI bill after World War II. He also went on to co-found the Instituto Allende in 1951, which continues to attract international students looking to study art today.

San Miguel de Allende has become a magnet for people from all over the world in search of enriching experiences, and with that, we have an incredible wealth of artists and teachers living here.

Here is our list of art classes both short and longer term to spark your creativity.
